High-Density Operation Yields Results in Kimberley

The South African Police Service reports that a high-density operation, spearheaded by Kimberley SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Nicholas Mtongana on Friday, 26 July 2024, has been effective in combating crime. The police statement detailed that the operation, which included personnel from Kimberley, Galeshewe, and Kagisho police stations, along with other law enforcement bodies, targeted crime and traffic infractions in the vicinity. The operation featured a roadblock on the N8 Bloemfontein Road, where 85 vehicles, 14 trucks, and 165 individuals were stopped and searched, resulting in traffic fines totaling R3,500 for various offenses. Moreover, high-visibility patrols by vehicle and on foot were carried out in the Central Business District and taxi ranks, where commuters received education on ATM safety and associated crimes. The statement further informs that additional vehicle checkpoints throughout Kimberley led to the arrest of an individual for drunk driving and the issuance of 25 traffic fines, totaling R20,800. Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock, the police spokesperson, stated that this operation reflects the SAPS's dedication to the community's safety and security.
