The MEC for Cooperative Governance Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, and Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mr. Bentley G. Vass is reported to have virtually attended the first quarter review session yesterday of the South African Police Service that is currently on day 2 at the Kimberley Gymnasium. MEC Vass at his turn noted that the review session creates the platform for managers to review performance against set targets and further emphasized that as a collective the level of professionalism seeked upon will never be achieved if corrupt police officials are not uprooted and removed from the organization. The MEC encouraged whistle-blowers and any other action that will assist in uncovering wrongdoing in the institution. Meanwhile at her turn Provincial Commissioner, General Otola expressed her discontent about members at stations who continue to turn away community members who visit the Community Service Centres to register cases. She emphasised that citizens have the right to register cases at any police station and such a case shod then be transferred to the relevant station. Today Provincial Components and Districts are expected to present their performance which will further then be deliberated upon.
