The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) delivered stinging criticism of the poor state of leadership and working conditions in the Northern Cape’s criminal justice cluster following the unions 10th Provincial Congress in Upington earlier this week. According to the union, there is a serious breakdown in its relationship with the province’s Department of Correctional Services. POPCRU President Thulani Ngwenya, the national office must intervene to address the breakdown of these relationships immediately.
