Edward Emmanuel Gideon Mastas received 9 years imprisonment

The Kimberley regional court convicted and sentenced a 24-year-old man Edward Emmanuel Gideon Mastas to 9 years direct imprisonment for assault with the intend to do Grievious Bodily Harm and for malicious damage to property on the 27th of June 2024. Police spokesperson sergeant Molefi Shemane says the accused allegedly went on rampage on the 3rd of November 2021 when he accompanied a 45-year-old woman victim to town, bullying her to go and sign and marry him at the department of home affairs. Shemane says the victim refused and the accused allegedly straggled the victim. He says after stabbing a 51-year-old aunt with a knife he then broke the window of informal structure building and burned the victim’s clothes on the 5th November 2021.
