Following their progression to nationals in the green opportunities challenge, three Grade 11 students from Carlton-Van Heerden High School in Upington Sibusiso Gumbi, Sanmary Estherhuizen, and Khanyisa Makoti, under the team name "The Blue Bulls" returned home this week having won third place in the competition. These learners presented their project, a Solar-Powered Streetlights project which member of the team Sibusiso Gumbi say was inspired by the electricity challenges faced in Upington.....INSERT (Gumbi 1)  A teacher from the school Mr. Van Wyk who accompanied these learners also expressed his pride in what the learners were able to achieve and says that this achievement is proof to the learners of the school that anything is possible regardless of where they may come from.....INSERT (MNR Van Wyk)
