According to Grace Kadzere, the marketing communications officer of
TransUnion's Global Capability Centre Africa, South Africa is experiencing a
youth unemployment crisis, with over 32% of the population out of work.
As per data from Stats-SA, the situation is particularly dire in the
Northern Cape, which has recorded an exceeding 35%. In response, Bertwin van
Wyk, the acting deputy director for the Department of Employment and Labour in
Upington, is urging all unemployed individuals, including graduates, to
register on the department's database or visit their offices to seek assistance
with finding employment. He continues by saying the following........INSERT[LABOUR]
To address the skills, gap between job seekers and the demands of the
job market, Kadzere is encouraging unemployed youth to engage in learnerships, these
programs, she says, provide practical experience and industry-specific skills,
enhancing employment and generating new opportunities..... INSERT [LEARNERSHIPS] Van Wyk
concludes by saying that the department of labour aims to boost training and
placement initiatives, collaborating with both public and private sectors, to
address the unemployment crisis by matching available skills with suitable
positions.
