Cultural, creative, and sports sectors continue to raise the country’s flag sky high. The acting sport, arts and culture minister Maropene Ramokgopa said as the country continue to advance the socioeconomic gains of the democracy, government commit to continue to lift and to develop the country’s sport, arts and culture sectors. Upington was represented by 4 athletes at the 2024 comrade marathon. The athletes are Hannes Brand, Ronald Isaacs, Matthews Olyn and Nathan Du Plessis. They all arrived in Upington yesterday, the 10th June 2024 from KwaZulu/Natal province. The Upington athletes says their intention was to put Upington on the map.
