On May 30, 2024, members of the South African Police Service in Kakamas organized an awareness campaign for Child Protection Week. According to Constable Mahura during this week observed from May 29 to June 5, 2024, they visited two different schools in Kakamas to conduct their programs. He says, at Alheit Primary School, they focused on child safety, protection from abuse, and malnutrition, reaching a total of 51 Grade 4 and 5 learners. Mahura says on the same day, they conducted their second program at Sentraal Primary School, addressing child safety, anti-bullying, school safety, children’s rights, and substance abuse. He says a total of 458 learners participated in this initiative.
