The Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison is hosting
an elections safety program where they warn the citizens to resist manipulation and
instead respect constitutional provisions by calling out undesirable behavior. The department says the destruction of infrastructure is illegal and must
be reported to law-enforcement agencies. The department further states that any person who tampers with, damages, and destroys essential infrastructure is
guilty of contravening the Criminal Matters Amendment Act (Act 18 of 2015). According to the department found guilty will be punished to a maximum of 30 years imprisonment or
fined an amount not exceeding R100m.
