MEC for the department of roads and public works Fufe
Makatong met with the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Road forums yesterday.
According to an official statement, the
MEC was joined by the Mayor of Joe Morolong Local Municipality, Dineo
Leutlwetse-Tshabalala and John Taolo Gaetsewe District Mayor, Queen
Mogatle-Thoane where they met with five road forums from the district.
According to the statement, the MEC during their engagement presented a plan to
the forum on how the Department will be rolling out road infrastructure
development in various areas of the district and further indicated that in
terms of progress made towards implementation, a feasibility study for road R-3342, which stretches from Washington
to Tsineng was completed with a consultant already having been appointed to
start with the design of the road. Eariler this week MEC Fufe Makatong was
engaging the CPA of the restituted Skeinfontein community and the farmers at
the Tsantsabane local municipal chambers on the effect of the Un proclaimed
roads and pointed out that proclamation of the roads will ensure access to the
three affected communities. Meanwhile, Operation Vala Zonke continues with the
department doing pothole repairs on the DR3387
road which is the road that connects the Jenn-Haven community with Postmasburg
in the Z.F Mgcawu District. The Mayor of Tsantsabane Local Municipality, Helena
English, confirmed that this road has a high accident rate.
