Government Incentives Spur Businesses to embark on Solar Manufacturing

According to a report from Green Cape, rooftop solar PV installations could double to 10GiggaWatt by the year 2030 due to load-shedding, rising electricity tariffs, and financing solutions. The report indicated a 52% growth in solar PV installations from 2022 to 2023. Eskom's General Manager, Isabel Fick, highlighted the role of solar PV in reducing load shedding and says Solar PV contributes significantly to generation capacity during the day, allowing Eskom to replenish emergency reserves resulting in 30 days without load shedding for April. Previously, the minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa during his visit to Upington said at a briefing held at Protea Hotel that Eskom has approached its board to increase its allowed power and manufacturing procurement from local companies. He encouraged stakeholders to invest time and effort into alternative energy sources starting with manufacturing rooftop solar PV, to cables, to transformers, and went on to elaborate with the following.......INSERT [business] He ends by saying that the time is now for businesses to embrace the power of the sun, with the backing of government, the energy landscape is limitless.
