The Gamagara local municipality has issued a notice to alert the community of Olifantshoek of an individual in the community who is posing as a municipal official and claims to be collecting plus minus R3000 from residents on behalf of the municipality. Through the posted notice the municipality provides that there are no officials at the municipality who are permitted to collect cash outside of the direct official bank account of the municipality and the official pay-point cashiers at the municipal offices. The municipal manager Lebogang Seetile at his turn says they are currently investigating this matter and cautions residents to be careful of falling victim to such scams.
