Civil Society
organizations today commemorated Freedom Day with a peaceful vigil at
Parliament in Cape Town. The vigil commemorates the 7th anniversary of the
landmark court ruling against the illegal Nuclear Deal in 2017 and the 38th
anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster. Civil society organizations like SAFCEI,
Earthlife Africa Johannesburg, The Green Connection Africa, and other partners
gathered to highlight the threats and ongoing efforts to protect South Africa
from unsuitable energy sources, including cost, safety, and secrecy issues.
