De Aar regional court sentenced Pierre Bruyns to 10 years in prison for theft

The De Aar regional court sentenced a 39 year old man Jean-Pierre Bruyns to 10 years imprisonment for theft. Police spokesperson Lieutenant colonel Sergio Kock says the accused was found guilty of stealing a Toyota Hilux bakkie and farm equipment worth R230 000-00, from a farm where he was employed in Loxton. The incident happened on 18 September 2024. Kock says the suspect also stole his employer's petrol card and purchased R3000-00 petrol for the stolen bakkie. He says the accused then traveled to Beaufort West where he stole a trailer and 2 motorcycles. Kock says the police arrested the accused on the 23rd of December 2023 in Kempton Park, Johannesburg but they did not retrieve any of the stolen goods. He says the court also declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm.
