Provincial commissioner Lieutenant general Koliswa Otola and her management welcomes the 14 year prison sentence handed down by the Calvinia regional court to a 25 year old man Fortune Koordom following the rape of a 27 year old woman in Loeriesfontein on the 4th June 2022. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says the court heard that the accused grabbed the victim as she was entering her yard and pulled her under a tree and raped her. Sam says he also contravened a protection order the victim had against him. He says the court found him guilty on the 18th April 2024 and the accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be recorded in the national register for sexual offenders.
