Local entrepreneurs
were advised to prepare themselves to participate in the rise of the budding renewable
energy industry as events and opportunites are starting to unfold and taking shape.
This follows as Scatec ASA commenced producing and supplying electricity to the
national grid from their three Kenhardt plants in the Northern Cape. Abrahm
Vosloo, mec responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism said that
Northern Cape has positioned itself as the hub for renewable energy in South
Africa and that the provincial community should look forward to the economic
growth and the benefits that residents of the province will derive from this. MEC
Vosloo indicated that renewable energy can not only resolve the energy crisis
but also some of the social challenges faced by the country.
