Department of coghsta and its Mec bentley vass addresses land parcel concerns in roodepan Kimberley

The MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs,Bentley G. Vass, held a meeting this past friday with the Sol Plaatje community to discuss the progress of the Roodepan Land Parcel housing project. The department provides in an offiicla statement that this project, which was acquired by the Department of CoGHSTA last year, is still in its early stages. During the meeting, community members were reported to have expressed concerns about the qualifications of beneficiaries. In response, the department says it will organize a consumer education session to inform citizens about the different housing programs available. The says the details of this session will be communicated to the community in advance to ensure their participation. Furthermore the department provides that currently, the project is undergoing an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to evaluate the potential environmental effects of the proposed development. This assessment considers various factors such as socio-economic, cultural, and human-health impacts, both positive and negative. Additionally, beneficiary administration, which involves managing and approving subsidy applications, is still pending.
