During his two day visit to the ZF Mgcawu district, the Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa toured the
Kenhardt solar plant on Thursday as it commenced supplying electricity to the national
grid. Today, the minister engaged with local businesses and other stakeholders in
Upington where he expressed his desire for the communities,
especially the youth, to benefit directly from the Renewable Energy sector and
its developments in the Northern Cape. The minister mentioned how solar
rooftops are becoming popular amongst households in the country and brought it
to the attention of businesses to seize this opportunity. He elaborated with

As South Africa continues its
transition to renewable energy, the Electricity minister pledged to focus on
developing economic opportunities for the marginalized communities such as
Upington and surrounding areas.
