Game donatioms to assist the department of soicla development to better serve the soup kitchens they hold responsibility for

A collaboration between the Department of Social Development and Agriculture, Environment and Nature Conservation which took place yesterday afternoon resulted in the donations to the Soup Kitchens under the span of control of Department. In attendance during this session was the MEC of social development Nontobeko Vilakazi, and MEC for Agriculture Mase Manopole. MEC Vilakazi said the handover of meat was more than just an act of kindness, but goes a long way in ensuring that hunger and poverty is being addressed. According to Vilakazi, at present the Department of Social Development funds 29 soup kitchens and 6 community drop in centres in the Pixley ka Seme District, to the tune of almost Six Million Seven Hundred Thousand Rand. She added that more than Eleven Thousand people are fed by these soup kitchens and drop in centres per day.
