Anglo-American Kumba Iron Ore has partnered with the Northern Cape Department of
Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) recently
to provide housing for over 200 families in Kathu, in the Gamagara Municipal
district.
The
mining company says it donated 142 serviced stands and R27 million in electrical
infrastructure to the Gamagara Municipality. Emphasizing housing as a

Scheepers says the
initiative aims to transform the lives of families who have faced hardships
associated with inadequate housing, changing their lives and setting an
inspiring example for other corporations and government entities. The
partnership serves as a beacon of hope for the families benefiting from it and
sets an inspiring example for other corporations and government entities to
value giving back to communities.
