The MEC for CoGHSTA, Bentley Vass and the Mayor of Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality, Michael Segede jointly distributed fodder and food parcels in Klein Mier this past Friday. According to an official statement by the department of Coghsta, this initiative was prompted by MEC Vass's previous visit to the area in March, where farmers sought assistance following devastating veld fires that wiped out their crops in the months of January and February earlier this year. Following this plea in a collaborative effort between the provincial government and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 150 animal feed and food parcels were handed out to the farmers of Klein Mier. One such beneficiary extended their gratitude as follows. ............Insert (Mier) Furthermore the department provides that during the community engagement, the farmers requested further assistance from the MEC with their water shortage caused by a prolonged drought and addition to this pressing issue, they also discussed various agricultural concerns. The department provides that the MEC responded by committing that he will engage with the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development to find effective solutions to support the struggling farmers.
