A 31 year old father was found guilty for the contravention of a protection order and the assault of his minor child in Deportshoop. Police spokesperson sergeant Merapelo Pilane says the incident happened on Sunday, the 11th June 2023 when the accused who is the father of the victim allegedly beat her with a belt until she was rescued by an elderly family member. Pilane says the accused was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment suspended for a period of 5 years on condition that he is not found guilty of the same offence by the Deportshoop magistrates court.
