A
total of 77 unemployed agricultural graduates was today welcomed into the
agricultural sector by the MEC responsible for the department Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development
and Land Reform in the Northern Cape, Mase Manopole. The 77 Unemployed
Graduates are expected to be placed at various sectors of agriculture, forestry
and fisheries across the five districts in the province with the aim to reduce
the high youth unemployment rate. The department states that this is the 3rd
cohort of graduates since the programme started in 2018. Bongani Silingile,
Media Liaison Officer in the office of the mec says that the initiative is a
collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural
Development, Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural
Development and Land Reform and Commodity Organisations/farms. The initiative according
to Silingile speaks to the National Development Plan (NDP) and the National
Youth Policy (NYP).
