The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr. Zamani Saul accompanied by MEC Zolile Monakali officiated the handing over of the new Petrusville Primary School this morning. The Northern Cape Department of Education says that it is in the process of replacing schools which are constructed with asbestos containing materials. The department states that these schools were constructed as a temporary solution and although well maintained by the communities; the structures posed as a health hazard to the learners and educators. The opening of the school was set to open its doors for learning on 22 January 2024 as indicated by the department, however intermittent rain at the time was cited for the delay.
