The Kakamas police in the ZF Mgcawu district
confiscated illicit cigarettes in Kakamas on Monday, the 8th April
2024. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says police were conducting
routine crime prevention patrols spotted a suspicious truck at a fuel station
and requested permission to search the truck. Sam says police found
cartons of Sahawi and chief cigarettes valued at approximately R8.4
million rand. He says police opened an enquiry case docket and served the
driver with notices to provide the original documentation of the purchasing of
these goods and confiscated the cigarettes and truck. The suspect is expected
to appear at Kakamas magistrate’s court soon.
