Legal shines the light of human rights amongst pupils.

Legal Aid South Africa Northern Cape in partnership with the provincial Department of Education embarked on a series of campaigns at different schools within the province that focused on the importance of respect of the basic human rights of others, to build awareness against acts of violence and bullying. Legal practitioners from the public entity discussed the importance of basic human rights in society and how the violation of human rights through perpetrating acts of bullying is denying other children freedom and that these acts have consequences under the Protection Against Harassment Act. According to Legal Aid SA, these pupils were targeted as they are the next generation and human rights awareness must be inculcated in their behavior at an early stage. The emphasis on human rights is highlighted during human rights month, however it remains as an important aspect daily, says the entity.
