Online nominations
for the road to literacy campaign by AVBOB, in partnership with Oxford University Press Southern Africa
(OUPSA) is set to be
concluded within a few days due on 30 March 2024. AVBOB confirms that nominations from the Northern
Cape has indicated an increase as compared to previous years. Right after the opening
of these nominations, Morné Scholtz, Manager Social Programs said that he is hopeful
to have an extended interest from Northern Cape based schools and educational Non-Profit Organizations (NPO’s). This year a
total of 500 trolley libraries, through the campaign will be donated. This according
to Avbob is a substantial increase from the 260 trolley libraries donated in
2023 and the 180 trolleys donated in 2022. Scoltz said that this
year, each trolley, with an estimated worth of R65 000, will be furnished with
500 books tailored to the CAPS curriculum. The total investment value for the
2024 AVBOB Road To Literacy campaign amounts to R32,5 million.
