A former learner of the Postmasburg High
School in 2023, through a bursary from Kumba Iron Ore’s Kolomela Mine
has enrolled as a first-year student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Stander
Bogosi Olehile, who is pursuing a qualification in Civil Engineering, said that
his chosen field of studies is a pleasant field, as the process includes the designing
and building of structures using math and physics to create designs beyond the
bounds. He says the idea of shaping buildings that later shape the people
around them is fascinating. Kolomela mine says the bursary program aims to support promising students pursuing
undergraduate studies in various fields. According to the mine, recipients of the
Kolomela mine bursary receive financial assistance for tuition fees, books, and
accommodation. Stander has encouraged
matriculants to ask questions, explore diverse subjects, and seek understanding
beyond textbooks. He said that he is of he believes that curiosity is the
compass that gives guidance towards knowledge, and that it fuels growth and
opens doors to unexpected opportunities.
