Police arrested 871 daily wanted suspects for evading court appearances and contravening court orders over the weekend. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says police confiscated large volumes of alcoholic beverages and nonferrous metal items during inspections. Sam says drugs valued at R10 000-00 was seized at a roadblock between Askham and Upington and cash that is believed to be the proceeds of crime. According to information, provincial commissioner Lieutenant general Koliswa Otola says police will combat any unlawful violence against community members and ensure special care to victims of GBVF.
