The Kolomela mine says it has taken paramount steps to enhance water infrastructure in the Tsantsabane municipal area. The initiatives put in place by the mine have been a lifeline for communities in Tsantsabane as it is plagued by frequent water stoppages. According to the mine these initiatives aim to alleviate the challenges faced by vulnerable communities due to chronic low water supply from the reservoirs. Sinah Pochana, communications officer for the mine, the latter entity co-funded a Water and Sanitation project at Skeyfontein and its surrounding locations and initiated an integrated Water Improvement Programme at Mountain View and Postdene.  Additionally, to minimise negative impacts caused by load shedding the mine provided Emergency Portable Water Supply (Jojo Tanks) and mobile stands for the affected communities. Pochana says these projects collectively underscore Kolomela’s dedication to water stewardship and its recognition of water as a human right.
