to research, 2023 was declared one of the world's hottest years in history,
prompting worry about a tipping point that would cause irreversible environmental
damage. Wildfires, heat waves, droughts, and floods are just a few of the ways
that climate change has affected South Africa, one of the continent's biggest
producers of greenhouse gases.
Members of Green Connection and Extinction Rebellion, who are working to
promote more green energy solutions, participated in a potent environmental
activism demonstration yesterday, 05 March 2024, to reject the false
claims made by Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe at this
week's Africa Energy Indaba in Cape Town that oil and gas production is still
an advantageous development. The groups advocated for openness and action to
address South Africa's current climate crisis with the Green Connection's advocacy
