Police says a total of 68 vehicle check points and
20 roadblocks were conducted across the province during which 4770 vehicles and
8633 persons were stopped and searched the past weekend. Police spokesperson
sergeant Timothy Sam says a vehicle that was reported to be transporting
alleged stolen livestock from Upington was stopped on the N14 road outside
Olifantshoek where 79 suspected stolen sheep to the value of R240 000-00
were recovered and 4 suspects arrested. He says numerous compliance inspections
at second-hand dealers, scrapyards, recyclers, private security, firearm
dealers, formal and informal businesses, farms and mines were executed. Sam
