The South African Police Service says they conducted a search and seizure operation
at a premises in Upington yesterday and confiscated illicit cigarettes to the value of over R2, 6 million. Police
spokesperson sergeant Omphile Masegela says an enquiry docket was opened and
the cigarettes were handed over to customs for further investigation. Masegela
says police will continue with efforts to address the trade in illicit
cigarettes and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Masegela
