The department of roads and public works has issued a notice to road users to inform all road-users that a sinkhole erupted on the Philipstown to Petrusville (R48/3) road at the 13.9 kilometer mark in the Pixley Ka Seme District area. The Department adds that they had relinquished this road to SANRAL Soc Ltd. on 2 November 2022 and says that currently, only one lane is closed, while a stop and go traffic control system is instituted. Furthermore the department says ,from today 1 March 2024, both lanes on the road will be closed due to repair work. The department urges road users to reduce their speed when approaching the stop and go traffic control system and to always remain cautious and vigilant.
