A total of 554 public ordinary schools in the Northern Cape are set to participate in the 2024 SGB Elections with the official start of the campaign tomorrow. The Department of Education in the Northern Cape Province says it has put systems in place to ensure that the 2024 SGB elections are run smoothly and in accordance with the principles of democracy, transparency, non-racism, non-sexism, accountability and most importantly, with the responsibility they deserve. According to the department training of provincial, district and school electoral officers have already been completed. Furthermore, the department says it needs School Governing Bodies that will support curriculum delivery with the focus on the improvement of learner achievement by supporting schools in developing strategies for improving teaching and learning. The 2024 School Governing Body Elections will take place under the theme: "Advancing teaching and learning through collaboration and good governance". The department has made an appeal to all members of society to make themselves available for nomination, attend meetings and participate in the SGB elections.
