This past Saturday, the Mittah Seperepere convention center in Kimberley played host to the Women in Boxing tournament, drawing women from various parts of the province to don their boxing gloves. The event, organized by Moroke Boxing Promotion in collaboration with Boxing South Africa and the Northern Cape Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, aimed to spotlight female boxers from across South Africa and neighboring countries. Sinazo Moroke, representing Moroke Boxing Promotion, highlighted the tournament's objective of elevating the visibility of female boxing, striving for equal recognition for women in the sport. Additionally, the event sought to unearth potential boxing talent in the Northern Cape, particularly as no local women participated in the tournament. Desery Fienies, the MEC for Sport, Art and Culture in the Northern Cape, lauded the tournament as a significant platform not only for promoting boxing but also for showcasing the province itself.
