Remarco Joseph was sentenced to 18 year imprisonment by Prieska regional court on the 19th February 2024 following the rape of a young girl in Prieska on the14th March 2015. Police spokesperson sergeant Timothy Sam says Remarco with his 3 accomplices allegedly took the victim to a house in Rooiblock, Prieska and took turns raping her then left her in the street. Sam says following intense investigations 1 suspect pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on the 17th October 2018 while 2 of his accomplices were acquitted. He says Remarco absconded until his re-arrest in Benoni Gauteng during 2023. Sam says he was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be included in the national register for sex offenders.
