MEC Bloem joins PC Otola to the SAPS Back to school outreach programme in Mecwetsaneng

In support of the South African Police Services Back to School Campaign, the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Nomandla Bloem, accompanied Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, and Major General Lekhele, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner, to deliver school shoes to learners at Mecwetsaneng Primary School in the John Taolo Gaitsiwe District. According to a police statement, the 72-student multi-grade school is in the isolated rural town of Kuruman, where access to academic resources and school-related needs is extremely difficult.  The department says in a statement, more than 80 pairs of school shoes were given to the principal of the school, who will distribute them. The department says this outreach programme is a component of the government's effort to create social compacts, increase educational access, alleviate the suffering of underprivileged learners, and continue to support these learners as they pursue their academic goals through the Back-to-School campaigns.
