Mec's Vass and Vilakazi visit disaster stricken areas in the northern cape

The MEC for Coghsta in the Northern Cape Bentley Vass together with the MEC for Social Development Nontobeko Vilakazi visited the disaster stricken areas following a thunderstorm which damaged electrical infrastructure in the Sutherland, Fraserburg and lainsburg areas in the Northern Cape and left communities without electricity supply while water levels also decreased. Babalwa Mzambo Spokesperson of Coghsta in the office of the MEC provides in an official statement that so far the municipality was able to restore the water levels while Eskom is taking steps to address the challenges caused by the power outage and as a result the electricity is expected to be restored on Thursday, 15 February 2024. Mzambo says the Mec's Vass and Vilakazi both pledged support from their departments...........INSERT (Mzambo 1) Furthermore Mzambo provides that a meeting is scheduled between ESKOM, network providers, the banks and provincial sector departments with the purpose of discussing and identifying intervention measures that can aid the local communities affected by the power outage as a collaborative effort to tackle the challenges faced by the communities.
