Advancing Inclusive Just Energy Transition and Building the Bridge between Aspiration and Opportunity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in South Africa says they will be hosting a one-day workshop focused on advancing inclusive energy transition in Upington. This workshop, titled "Building the Bridge between Aspiration and Opportunity, is scheduled to be hosted by Women Energy Connect on February 15, 2024, at the Protea Hotel in Upington and is powered by the UNDP's Climate Promise initiative. According to a statement, the workshop aims to address the perception that opportunities in South Africa's energy transition are only accessible to a privileged few. The UNDP believes that these opportunities can be made accessible to all and wishes to bridge the gap between aspirations and available opportunities while aiming to eliminate past structural imbalances and biases. The workshop intends to achieve specific outcomes, including knowledge sharing, capacity building, robust conversations about opportunity linkages, and access to networking and mentorship opportunities. The statement further says that this workshop presents a significant opportunity for individuals and organizations involved in South Africa's energy transition to come together and work towards building an inclusive and just energy system.
