The back to school campaign by the department of social development

The MEC of the department of social development in the Northern Cape Nontobeko Vilakazi accompanied by SASSA and team members from the department visited Kgono Primary School in Jan Kempdorp and Gaushupe in Pampierstad as part of the Northern Cape Provincial Executive Council's back to school campaign. In an official statement by the department it is provided that the main purpose of this visit is to get a sense of the readiness of the schools and its learners for the new year as well as to ensure that needy students receive the support they require to make teaching and learning more conducive. The department further provides that as pat of the activities of the day the MEC distributed school uniforms to the tune of R5500 per leaner. The department says at their turn the MEC Vilakazi and Team took the opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work carried out by dedicated educators and encouraged mothers to apply for uniforms as provisioned by sassa so as for their children to not feel out of place at school.
