NC education responds to claims by COPE

The Congress of the People (COPE) made widespread accusations that some teachers in the province received their salaries late, and some had not received their salaries at all. Geoffrey Van Der Merwe, the Northern Cape department of education's spokesperson, responded to these claims saying the following..............Insert – Ed salariesCOPE further asserts that many teachers work on a temporary basis for up to two years.  Van Der Merwe says the Department published a Circular in October 2023 to assure the nomination and appointment of Temporary & Substitute Teachers for the 2024 school academic year, however according to Van Der Merwe, the contracts of Temporary educators end on December 31.
