The Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) says, it appears there is a need to have more functional female
driven cooperatives in the Upington area, as challenges arise to have cooperatives
register for the upcoming three-day training. Sinoxolo Zweni, regional
facilitator for SEDA Upington, says the current total of attendees for the
training stands at ten, however the target is a total of 30 to reserve a place to
attend. Zweni says that it is a real challenge to reach the total in question as
SEDA’s database is exhausted. He says cooperatives, which are hundred percent
female, youth and people living with disabilities owned are encouraged to
engage with the SEDA office to register for this corporate governance training
aimed at capacitating the mentioned groups by providing training on corporate
governance and ethics in terms of companies act. The training will focus on
management, business, decision - making, business strategy, the role of
shareholders, corporate finance and reporting amongst others. The three-day
training will be hosted by the department of economic development and tourism
in partnership with the triple bee commission.
