As the second day of school for the new academic year unfolded the department will continue to monitor and assess the first 10 days of schooling and intervene immediately in matters where learning and teaching are affected, the education department in the province indicated. The department says it will conduct a 10-day snapshot survey, which will identify shortcomings and challenges schools might be confronted with, which may include amongst others, additional school furniture, additional educators and additional Learning and Teaching Support Material. District officials are busy conducting a headcount of learners per classroom per grade to determine available school spaces, particularly in the Frances Baard District.
