The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform added on the 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence as it drew to an end. The department's communications officer Phemelo Manankong said something must galvanize the departmental staff to take decisive action against Gender Based Violence on women and children. The 2023 campaign was celebrated under the theme "Accelerating Actions To End Gender Based Violence & Femicide: Leaving No One Behind". Head of Department Moira Marais in her address said there are cases that are dragging for too long without reaching conclusions. Marais cited an example with a case in Upington where a female was harassed by her male counter-part, as she urged those responsible to move with speed to get closer to such cases.
