The Warrenton regional court recently convicted and sentenced a 35 year old man accused to 5 years direct imprisonment for the statutory raping of a 12 year old girl. Police spokesperson sergeant Molefi Shemane says the department of Social Development became aware of the incident and reported the matter to the relevant law enforcement agencies in September 2020. Shemane says the court judgement also declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm and the name of the accused be entered into the national register for sexual offenders. According to information, the court judgement further ordered that the accused should not work with children.
