KAKAMAS SAPS LAUNCH 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM FOR NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The South African Police Service in Kakamas launched the 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children campaign at the Kakamas Taxi Rank on Saturday, 25 November 2023. According to the police, various stakeholders, including the NPA, Department of Justice, Department of Social Development, Department of Home Affairs, all structures under the CPF umbrella and others. The campaign was launched under the theme "Accelerating actions to end Gender Based Violence and Femicide, leaving no one behind." Spokesperson of the police in the ZF Mgcawu district Sergeant Omphile Masegela stated that the anticipated influx of seasonal workers and visitors to local tourist sites during this upcoming time will result in a rise in population in Kakamas and the surrounding areas. Masegela asked the populace to exercise caution and abstain from illegal activity. While the members were executing high visibility crime prevention patrols throughout the CBD, they were also providing SAPS services at the taxi rank via mobile CSC.
