The South African Police Service in the Northern Cape says an intelligence
driven operation in the Frances Baard district led to the confiscation of
contaminated fuel at depots valued at 1 million this past weekend. Police
spokesperson sergeant Molefi Shemane says during the operations 252
suspects were arrested for various crimes such as illicit mining, undocumented
immigrants, dealing in drugs, possession of illegal cigarettes, illegal dealing
in liquor, possession of counterfeit goods and possession of drugs just to mention
a few. All suspects are expected to appear in the different magistrates courts soon.
