The National Pitch for Funding Competition is taking place between today and tomorrow as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Johannesburg. The Northern Cape Provincial Pitch for Funding Competition  which was a build - up towards the nationals was held in Upington, on October 26, 2023. According to a statement by the Small Enterprise Development Agency SEDA, the competition saw Kuruman based coffeemaker Victoria Theo being selected as the provincial winner. SEDA says the Pitch for Funding initiative seeks to promote various funding instruments within the Department of Small Business Development Portfolio which includes its agencies Seda and Sefa, while closing the gap between entrepreneurs and investors. The statement further says, in the Northern Cape, a total number of 52 SMMEs participated in the regional pitch for funding competitions held in all 5 districts in October 2023. This year marks the 7th year that the Pitch for Funding competition is held, which will see the 27 provincial finalists compete for over 2 million rand in prizes. Seda says competition began with hundreds of small businesses attending Pitching Masterclasses where entrepreneurs received the opportunity to learn how to pitch, thereafter competing in the Pitch for Funding provincial finals.
