than 600 - grade nine learners from high schools which include Blinkklip,
Ratang Thuto, Postmasburg and Shiloah academy were hosted by the Koloma mine in
partnership with the education department during a career and subject choice fair.
Theodor Moeti, Social Economic Development Specialist, says the University of
the Free State was invited to address these learners and provide aid to make
informed subject choices that are not only academically important, but also
professionally for the future. Mavis Kolberg, manager of the corporate
relations and social performance department of Kolomela mine, says the purpose
of the fair is to eliminate poor subject choices and to give learners an
understanding of the minimum university achievements standards. Theodore Moeti elaborates.
